I’m excited. Later this month I’m heading across the ditch to Peppers Parehua for our first Wine Wars event in 2015 and I've just put the finishing touches on the wine selections. This is a special Wine Wars dinner at which we will celebrate the ANZAC spirit with a friendly exchange of wines between two legendary wineries.
The home side is represented by Dry River, one of the pioneering producers of great wine in the heart of the Martinborough region, only a short walk from Peppers Parehua. Established by legendary winemaker, Dr. Neil McCallum, current winemaker Wilco Lam has built on his legacy and just released the 30th vintage of Dry River’s iconic Pinot Noir. I have called it as the best they’ve ever made!
We’ll be putting that and other great Dry River wines alongside some of Aussie legend Wirra Wirra’s finest bottles at our dinner on April 26th at Peppers Parehua. Wirra Wirra was victorious in last year’s ANZAC WIne Wars event and so I've invited them back to defend the title. It’s going to be a huge night!
The other exciting event on the horizon at Peppers is the Great Canberra Wine Dinner which I’m hosting at the Peppers Gallery in Canberra on May 29th. I've selected my top Canberra winemakers and worked on an amazing collection of wines for this event. Clonakilla, Lark Hill, Ravensworth, Eden Road, Nick O’Leary, Lerida Estate and Mount Majura are all confirmed and have offered their finest recent wines, some winemakers are even dipping into the cellar for some real treasures!
These upcoming wine events are among the most exciting on offer in Australia and New Zealand and I am super proud to be bringing the best wines on offer to share with you at Peppers this year.
Cheers and see you at Peppers!
