The first weeks of Spring in the Southern Highlands are truly magnificent. Sunshine, tulips blooming, gardens truly coming alive and of course the Food and Wine Festival.
Katers Restaurant joined local vineyards and producers showcasing the best of what the Southern Highlands has to offer to over 5000 people over the two day event. The restaurant showcased several of its local suppliers and sold Southern Highlands Alpaca burgers with hummus and house made beetroot relish from our gardens. While these were a little controversial they were also a big hit - we sold out both days and many a conversation was had about different meats and trying new things.
Attracting food and wine lovers from Sydney, Wollongong, The South Coast, Canberra and beyond, this event was the ideal outing for the enthusiastic day tripper, weekender or locals living in the Highlands. Master classes on the day included wine makers and local chefs.
The event also played host to one of Australia’s hottest celebrity chefs James Reeson from the Alive and Cooking television series. James filmed an episode of his national cooking series during the festival using the award winning food and wine from the Southern Highlands.
