What to do in the area

Noosa has the best of both worlds – serene coastal atmosphere with a thriving resort town.

Noosa has the best of both worlds – serene coastal atmosphere with a thriving resort town.

Spend your days relaxing on the sun–soaked shores of one of Noosa’s many beaches. Along the boardwalk behind bustling Hasting Street tropical rainforest gives way to the pure white sand and crystal clear waters of Main Beach. With its calm, warm waters, Main Beach is the perfect spot for swimming and beginner surfers alike.

For a more secluded beach, venture into Noosa’s National Park. Tucked deep within the national park you will find hidden beaches set amongst giant gumtrees and paperbarks, allowing you to keep company with sleeping koalas as you sunbathe. The National Park is also home to some of the best surfing beaches in Noosa. When the swell is moderate, First Point is ideal for long boards and beginners. For the more experienced surfer, a paddle out to the outer points will reveal the best breaks.

Once you’ve had your fill of surf, sun and sand, you’re invited to wander through the National Park. This natural habitat is best explored on foot, with plenty of walking trails for short strolls and longer hikes for all levels of experience. Within the National Park you’ll be able to spy some of the local wildlife, including koalas, Eastern Grey kangaroos and glossy black cockatoos. Follow the meandering track up to the lookout over Laguna Bay for the best vantage point to spot dolphins and migrating whales.

Much of the allure of Noosa can be found on Hasting Street. A hub of activity, Hasting Street is a mix of cafes, restaurants and local and international designer boutiques. Wander down for a leisurely stroll to explore the shopping precinct. Or seat yourself at one of the outdoor cafes to pass the time people watching. As the sun sets, retreat to one of the many small wine bars or award-winning restaurants. When it comes to eating out, Noosa has it all. Here the focus is on fresh, local produce. The rich land of the Sunshine Hinterland provides an abundance of organic produce and daily catches of Moreton bay bugs, Coffin Bay oysters and mud crabs to please the palate. For a dining experience with a view, head to higher ground; the eco-designed View Restaurant captures the scenic views of Laguna Bay whilst paying homage to the natural surrounds.

Food and wine lovers will enjoy the Sunday Farmer’s Markets held all year round. Grab a fresh coffee and immerse yourself in the local food culture as you wander around the market. You’ll rub shoulders with local chefs as you sample some of the finest food and produce Noosa has to offer. With organic breads, gourmet cheeses and condiments to compliment the live music setting, you’re in for a sensory treat.

Noosa is the perfect place to reinvigorate and rejuvenate your mind, body and soul. Greet the sun with a refreshing morning yoga class, and then continue your day of wellness by checking in to a day of relaxation at Stephanie’s Ocean Spa. Enjoy a revitalising facial and experience absolute relaxation with a hot stone massage set in serene sub-tropical settings. Finish the day with mineral flotation therapy, to lull yourself into deep meditation that will ease your aches and worries.

Seasonal Activities

If it is adventure you seek there are plenty of activities to keep you busy all year round, from stand up paddle boarding to experiencing some of the best beach driving Australia has to offer at the nearby World Heritage listed Frasier Island. The highlight of any holiday, though, is to explore the Noosa Everglades. Navigate through magnificent wetlands and network of lakes, exploring the “River of Mirrors” by canoe. As you glide across tranquil waters you’ll take in the stunning vista of the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands, and spot a wide variety of Australian wildlife - almost half of all Australia’s native birds call the Everglades home.
